Our Story

Jacques Tredoux had always been captivated by the potential of raw materials—bricks, mortar, steel, and glass—that when combined, transformed into structures that touched the sky or sheltered lives. His fascination began in the corridors of HTS Drostdy Worcester, where the scent of fresh wood and the hum of construction blueprints became his daily companions. It was here that Jacques discovered his calling, and by the time he graduated with a National N6 diploma, he had already decided that the world of building was where he belonged.

His first job at a building material supplier gave him a front-row seat to the inner workings of the industry. As a salesman, Jacques quickly earned a reputation for his deep understanding of materials and their applications. But it was his innate ability to solve problems that set him apart.

Beyond the bricks and mortar, Jacques’s company became a pillar of the community.

At 29, Jacques’s thirst for bigger challenges led him to the UK. There, he worked as an onsite Quantity Surveyor and Site Manager for a major construction firm. His projects ranged from high-spec residential buildings to towering commercial structures and sprawling industrial sites. His meticulous nature and innovative approach earned him a promotion to Global Operations Manager, a role that saw him overseeing monumental projects across Europe, the United States, and Dubai.

Each project added a new dimension to his expertise and each city he worked in broadened his perspective. However, despite the thrill of international acclaim, Jacques yearned for home. In 2010, with his career well-established and his personal life calling, he returned to South Africa, ready to lay down roots of a different kind.

Settling in Cape Town, Jacques founded Jacques Tredoux Master Builders. His vision was clear: to create a company that embodied the principles of excellence, integrity, and innovation he had honed over years of international experience.

The company quickly made a name for itself, not just as a builder but as a partner in realizing dreams. From luxury homes with panoramic views of Table Mountain to innovative commercial spaces that blended seamlessly with Cape Town’s eclectic charm, Jacques’s projects were characterized by meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

One of Jacques’s most memorable projects was the renovation of a historic Cape Dutch building. The structure, a beautiful but dilapidated relic from the 18th century, was in desperate need of restoration. Jacques approached the project with the same reverence and care he would have for a work of art. The renovation was a triumph, preserving the building’s historical essence while integrating modern amenities. The project was hailed as a masterpiece, and Jacques was praised for his dedication to maintaining the building's original character.

Beyond the bricks and mortar, Jacques’s company became a pillar of the community. He mentored young builders, sponsored local arts initiatives and supported environmental sustainability in construction. For Jacques, building wasn’t just about structures—it was about creating spaces that enriched lives and strengthened communities.

Years passed, and Jacques Tredoux Master Builders continued to thrive, each new project a testament to Jacques’s vision and values. As he looked back on his journey—from the dusty classrooms of Worcester to the grand construction sites of the world and back to his beloved Cape Town—Jacques knew that his work had always been more than just a career. It was a lifelong passion, built on a foundation of dreams and realized through unwavering dedication.
